Project Black Sun

Today we are going to reveal what we are working on for our new title. As you can guess by the header, our new project is tentatively called “Black Sun” (note, not the final name). So what is Black Sun you may ask? Black Sun is a “Epic Space Opera Combat Shooter” or in not so exhausting terms, “Space Combat” game. So why did make the move to a game of this type? The short version is that from a technical standpoint, its a type of game we can accomplish considering our current status as developers. Secondly, the genre for this type of game is far and few between. Most space combat games now consist of being a online roleplaying game or a hardcore simulation with a derivative mission structure. We wanted to create a space combat game that focuses heavily on fast past action, epic battles, and enormous scale, but also takes advantage of the hardware to render beautiful ships and starscapes to really draw you into this universe. This may sound like a large feat, but its something we know we can achieve.

So now comes the big question, what is it being developed for? We are still sticking to our initial plan to develop for the Xbox Live Indie Games service, so yes, Xbox 360 is our platform of choice for this title. We believe we can develop a quality title that really stands on top of the service for gameplay and graphics that shows what indie games can do. We have already received our annual XNA license to develop and publish for Xbox 360 and have been hard at work with great progress in development.

That is all we are revealing for now, just enough to wet your tongues, stay tuned to the site for future updates on this title.
